Michelle Futrell currently serves in a dual role as Director of Sports Medicine and Senior Instructor in Health and Human Performance.
She earned her BA in Physical Education from the College of Charleston and her MA in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and holds South Carolina Athletic Trainers certification.
She is currently serving as the Chair of the College and University Committee for South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.In addition, she holds certifications from the American Heart Association as an instructor in CPR and First Aid, from CAAHEP as an Approved Clinical Instructor Educator.
Her job responsibilities include teaching several classes each semester, supervising students enrolled in the College’s nationally accredited Athletic Training Education program, supervising facilities and staff, budgeting and purchasing, maintaining medical records, administering the secondary coverage athletic insurance program, and coordinating drug testing.
She is married to Jamie Futrell, the Head Women’s Golf Coach at the College of Charleston. They have two children Tyler (10) and Kylie Grace (7).
