Thompson joins the Cougar athletic department after coming from the University of Tennessee where he worked in the Tennessee Fund office, the fundraising arm of Tennessee athletics. Thompson provided customer service to all UT donors ticket holders while also assisting in the Fund Drive Volunteer Program to generate new Tennessee Fund members.
"Blake brings the experience and fundraising knowledge we need for this position," said Brandon Stevens, Director of the Cougar Club. "He has a bright future as a collegiate administrator and will help the Cougar Club reach the one-million dollar mark over the next few years."
While at Tennessee, Thompson also worked as a team mentor for the football program, working with players through the Thornton Center for Student-Athlete Academic Success as he helped with time management and study skills.
Thompson is familiar with the Southern Conference as he played point guard for the Georgia Southern Eagles men's basketball team from 2006-10. He was a three-time SoCon All-Academic honoree, a Georgia Hope Scholarship recipient and a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization.
Thompson holds a master's degree in sport management from the University of Tennessee and earned his bachelor's in business administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgia Southern in 2010.
