CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sarah Schaidle, a junior on the College of Charleston women's soccer team, continues to receive accolades and recognition for her commitment to excellence on the field and in the classroom and was most recently selected to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's College Scholar All-America Team.

Schaidle's talent and leadership on the field helped lead the Cougars to a program-best 13-win campaign in 2011 which saw the Cougars reach the finals of the Southern Conference Championship. Off the field, Schaidle stands out with a 3.70 GPA as a biochemisty major and member of the Honors College.

"Well, this is yet another tremendous honor for Sarah [Schaidle] and our women's soccer program," said head coach Christian Michner. "She sets the bar high for our team and really defines what it means to be a student-athlete at the College of Charleston.  It was such an amazing year for us and for Sarah to be named Scholar All-American is the icing on the cake. We're very proud of her."

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; be in her second year at the current school if she is a transfer student; and submit an official copy of a certified transcript.

In addition to this great honor, Schaidle was recognized as a first team All-SoCon selection, SoCon all-tournament performer and a 2011 Capital One Academic All-District first-team selection.

The scholar athletes will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held in the Kansas City Convention Center's Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
