WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Former Cougar outfielder Marty Gantt has signed with the Tampa Bay Rays and will play with the Hudson Valley Renegades after being drafted in the seventh round earlier this month. The Renegades play in the McNamara Divison of the Short-Season A New York-Penn League.
A native of North Augusta, S.C., Gantt was the 2012 SoCon Player of the Year and a Third Team Louisville Slugger All-American. He led the team with a .373 average with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 29 stolen bases.
Gantt and the Renegades open the 2012 summer season on Monday, June 18, against the Aberdeen IronBirds.
