CHARLESTON, S.C. - Junior men's soccer goalkeeper Kees Heemskerk (Zaandam, Netherlands) has been named the Piggly Wiggly Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 3.

A psychology major from the Netherlands, Heemskerk was instrumental in CofC's 2-0-0 week in which they were crowned the NIKE / Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic last weekend. The junior goalkeeper allowed just one goal over the weekend en route to being named the tournament MVP. Against No. 40 Stanford, Heemskerk made four saves in over 93 minutes of work to allow the Cougars to come away with the 2-1 overtime victory. He followed that effort up with a shutout victory in which he made seven saves in a 1-0 win over No. 39 Dayton in the tournament finale.
