BOSTON, MASS. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team got off to a slow start Friday in the Cabot Center, and Northeastern was able to take advantage as CofC fell 78-66.

Breanna Bolden and Jackie Luna-Castro each scored 16 points for CofC, with Bolden adding nine boards and two steals and Luna-Castro contributing six rebounds and a pair of blocks. Bolden's 16 moved her to 1067 career points, which surpassed Tina Drutonis (1986-89) for 23rd place on the CofC all-time scoring list.

Nola Henry came off the bench to give the Cougars ten points, four rebounds and four assists. Kelsey Booth meanwhile scored 12 points and matched a CofC career-high three assists.

After a slow start to the game for both teams, Northeastern exploded to score 37 points in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Carrying a half-time lead of 41-22, the Huskies proceeded to win the third quarter 22-18 before coasting in the fourth with the game effectively decided.

The Cougars managed to win the turnover battle, committing only 11 to the Huskies' 15. However, Northeastern got the upper hand in rebounding (40-30), and had a great night shooting the ball, going 50.8% from the field (32-of-63) and 47.6% from long-range (10-of-21).

With the loss, the Cougars drop to 9-17 on the year, and 4-11 vs. CAA competition.  Northeastern meanwhile claims their fifth win in a row, raising them to 13-14 on the season and 8-8 in CAA play. Their hold on the sixth spot becomes strengthened, while and they move into striking distance of fifth-place Delaware (14-12; 9-6 vs. CAA).

The Cougars will now roll down to the Empire State for a date with second-place Hofstra (19-7; 10-5 vs. Caa). That contest is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. in the David S. Mack Exhibition Complex.
