CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston senior midfielder Steven Nagy (Cali, Columbia/Colegio Bolivar) has been named the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 3.
Nagy was instrumental in the Cougars' 2-1 victory over top-ranked Wofford on Oct. 30 in Spartanburg, S.C. He scored both goals for Charleston, doubling his season total in scores, and taking half of CofC's eight shots in the match. His first score of the night came from 20 yards out on the left side in the 40th minute of action, crossing to the right side of the net and slipping in just under the crossbar. Nagy followed up his first-half performance by knocking in a second shot, this time from 15 yards out on the right side to the left corner, just six minutes into the second half. Nagy is currently fourth on the team in scoring with eight points on the season. He has appeared in 18 games and made a career-high nine starts for the Cougars this year. Charleston (10-8-0, 4-2 SoCon) travels to College Park, Md. this Friday to take on the sixth-ranked Maryland Terps at 7 p.m. The squad plays its final conference match on Nov. 10, when the Cougars host Furman for a 3 p.m. matchup. |
