CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sophomore Jake Zokan (Columbia, S.C.) has been named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Month for his play in the month of May as announced by the league today.

Zokan recorded a 4-1 record with a 0.77 ERA in six appearances and three starts for the Cougars. The southpaw saved his best performance of the season for what would be his final appearance, tossing eight strong innings against Georgia Southern in an elimination game for the Cougars on May 28. Zokan scattered five hits and allowed one run with seven strikeouts as the Cougars won 9-1. In total, he surrendered two earned runs in 23.1 innings of work, while striking out 22 and walking just six.
