Hudson, Ellis In Good Position at Rice Planters

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - After two rounds of play College of Charleston men's golfers John Duke Hudson and Alex Ellis find themselves a top the leader board at the 39th Rice Planters Amateur Tournament at Snee Farm Country Club.

Hudson shot 66 in the opening round and followed that up with a 68 for a 10-under 134. He currently leads the field by one stroke. Ellis is not far behind with a 69-69=138 (-6) in sixth-place.

After tomorrows third round the field will be cut to the low 60 golfers with ties for the final round of competition.

CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said he is pleased with the poise and competitive attitudes he has seen from his two golfers.

"It's nice to see John Duke Hudson and Alex Ellis play well at this tournament. "They are both talented and hard working and are going to be key contributors for our team next year."

Rising senior Seth Stuart shot 76-77=153 for his first two rounds.
