CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior sailor Juan Maegli (Guatemala City, Guatemala) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Sept. 24.
Maegli qualified for nationals after winning the SAISA Men's Singlehanded Championship regatta sailed in Charleston Harbor on Crab Bank over the weekend. A 2012 London Olympian and pre-Business Administration major, Maegli was competing in his first collegiate event since 2010. He placed first in eight of the 12 races to capture his third career SAISA title.
