CHARLESTON, S.C. - Freshman women's soccer player Michaela Herrmann (Centennial, Colo.) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Sept. 24.
Herrmann scored her first goal as a Cougar last week and she did so in style, hammering a ball into the back of the net in the 89th minute to clinch CofC's SoCon-opening win against Wofford, 1-0. With overtime looming in a scoreless match, Herrmann received a pass into the box from Sarah Schaidle and volleyed it back across the goal mouth and into the far-side netting for the game winner.
