Kohn worked with local volunteers from the Mitchell School District to help identify 20 families in need with children that attend Mitchell Math & Science Elementary on peninsular Charleston. On Wednesday morning, Kohn purchased and hand-delivered Thanksgiving meals to those families.
"Thanksgiving is a time for giving back," Kohn said. "I've been very fortunate and wanted to find an opportunity to do something for families in Charleston. This is a community that I love and will always keep coming back to, no matter where I end up working and playing baseball."
Playing for the Cougar baseball team from 2007-08, Kohn was a position player before making the transition to relief pitcher his final season.
He was drafted in the 13th round of the 2008 draft as a pitcher by the L.A. Angels and made his major league debut on July 26, 2010 against the Boston Red Sox and holds a 2-1 career record. He spent the entire 2012 season the disabled list due to Tommy John surgery.
