Georgia Southern comes into the game with a 1-10 record overall and are 0-2 in SoCon play. The Eagles only victory of the season has come against Kent State. They are led in scoring by junior guard MiMi DuBose, who is averaging 13.5 points per game.
IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME
With their 82-74 win over Richmond Dec. 28 the Cougars beat an Atlantic 10 conference opponent for the first time since a win against Charlotte in the 1980-81 season.
HARRIS EARNS SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK
This week senior Latisha Harris was awarded SoCon Player of the Week. Harris had two double-doubles including 20 points and 13 rebounds in the Cougars win at Charleston Southern. It was the first time CofC women's basketball has earned the honor since Deidra Jones on Nov. 24, 2009.
BROWN DROPPING DIMES
Junior point guard Jillian Brown has four 10 assist games this season and six double-digit assist games in her career. Brown currently ranks seventh on the Cougars all-time list with 285 assists and is 18 shy of the sixth spot. Brown ranks 12th among all NCAA DI players in assists per game at 6.8.
FOUR IN DOUBLE FIGURES
For the second time this season the Cougars had four players score in double figures in the win vs. Richmond. Seniors Megan Fischer (18), Latisha Harris (15), Cathryn Hardy (13) and junior Alyssa Frye (15) all scored in double-figures. Hardy and Harris also posted double-digit rebounding games to register double-doubles in the games. For Hardy it was her first career double-double, for Harris her 12th career double-double.
RAINING THREES AND DEFENDING THE THREE
In their last two games the Cougars have shot a combined 19-of-36 (53 percent) from beyond the three-point arc and have held their two opponents to a combined 6-of-46 (13 percent) from beyond the arc.
STRONG SUPPORTING CAST
The Cougars have gotten excellent production from their reserves this season as they have combined to score in double-figures in eight straight games, including 18 or more points in six of those eight games. In the most recent win at Charleston Southern they combined for 23 points.
SHARING THE BALL
Against Richmond the Cougars had 20 assists on 27 field goals. The team has nearly doubled their assist total from last year through the first 11 games of the season, and has had 15 or more assists three times.
