Seago Inks 17 Impact Athletes In 2013-14 Signing Class

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country and track and field team has announced its 2013-14 signing class as announced by head coach Amy Seago on Wednesday.

The CofC women will be joined by Mary Kate Brelsford (Ocean City, N.J.), Cara Butcher (North Massapequa, N.Y.), Carlee Cassidy (Lindsay, Ontario, Canada), Elizabeth Catoe (Lancaster, S.C.), Alex Coyle (Corunna, Ontario, Canada), Julisa Tindall (Rock Hill, S.C.), Aisha Maddox (Columbia, S.C.), Alex Moseley (Rock Hill, S.C.), Lindsey Peterson (Augusta, Ga.), Julia Petruch (Colts Neck, N.J.), Alexis Wilkins (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Casey Witkowski (Bluffton, S.C.).

On the men’s side, the Cougars have added distance runners Sean McMahon (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Austin Poisson (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), Nick Putnam (Columbia, S.C.), Christian Ruppe (Fort Mill, S.C.) and Josh Tierney (Bluffton, S.C.).

“We are bringing in a good-sized freshman class that is full of impact athletes,” Seago said. “I believe we have assembled a great group of young men and women who will add an important component to our team’s chemistry. Overall, this signing class carries a competitive spark that will help us to forge our path ahead into the CAA.”

Other Notes: Currently ranked No. 7 in the country in the discus and No. 10 in the hammer throw. Three-Time Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year (2010, 2011 and 2012), Two-Time LSSAA Discus Champion (2011 and 2012) and Two-Time SWOSSAA Discus Champion (2011 and 2012). Placed sixth at the Canadian Youth Championship in the discus and a bronze medalist at the Ontario Youth Outdoor Championships in the discus in 2012. Named Sarnia Collegiate High School Female Freshman Overall Athlete of the Year. Three-Time Academic Honor Roll student.

Other Notes: A native New Yorker who has resided in Rock Hill, S.C., since 2004. She is the daughter of Julian and Jacqueline Tindall and is the youngest of four siblings, Tailynn, Cari and Hillary. Finished her high school track & field career as a three-time South Carolina State High Jump champion. Placed first in the high jump, second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump at the state meet in 2013. Two-Time HSSR SCHSL All-State Girls Track Team Award recipient in 2011and 2012. Member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and National Honor Society of High School Scholars. Also an active member of the Rock Hill Youth Council.
