Peter J. Carek, MD, MS is a Professor of Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as well as the director of the Trident/MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program in Charleston, SC.  He has been a team physician for the College since 1992.

Dr. Carek is a graduate of Clemson University and the MUSC College of Medicine in 1987.  He completed residency training in Family Medicine at MUSC in 1990.  Following residency training, Dr. Carek completed fellowships in primary are sports medicine at the Ohio Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Clinic and the University of Tennessee, Medical Center at Knoxville.  In addition, he received his Master of Science Degree from the Universityof Tennessee.

He currently has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Family Practice as well as being a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Carek is married to Patricia and they have three children, Stephen, Bryan and Andrew.
