Deanna Roberts enters her first year as a Graduate Assistant at the College of Charleston and will serve as the primary athletic trainer for the volleyball team.
Roberts is arriving at the College of Charleston after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from James Madison University in May of 2010. While obtaining her degree, Roberts garnered a variety of internships and clinical experiences to hone the skills she brings to the College of Charleston. She served as an Athletic Training Student and worked with women's soccer, women's lacrosse, track and field, and Broadway High School football. She was heavily involved as a student athletic trainer and worked with athletes daily to prevent and resolve injuries. She also assisted the staff with physical exams, game preparation, communication, pre-professional student education and injury evaluation and rehabilitation,
Roberts also served as a Student Strength and Conditioning Intern from 2007-08. As such she supervised and assisted athletes during conditioning sessions, demonstrated proper form and lifting techniques, designed strength programs, set strength goals for athletes and performed and practiced lifting techniques with staff members. Roberts also served as a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Athletic Training. In this capacity, Roberts created PowerPoints and lecture presentations, corrected and reviewed exams and homework assignments, demonstrated taping and bracing techniques, created homework assignments and held review sessions.
