JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The College of Charleston men's tennis team had its road dual match at Jacksonville postponed mid-play due to inclement weather on Friday night at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.
A rescheduled date and time has yet to be determined. The Dolphins won the doubles point and the Cougars led in five of the six first sets in singles, before the match was called after short rain delays throughout the two hours of play turned into heavier showers.
Senior Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium) and junior Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va.) picked up CofC's lone doubles win of the match defeating Eimon Heywood and Eduardo Martinez by a count of 8-3 at the No. 2 line.
"I was pleased with the response by our team after losing our first doubles point of the season," CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. "We got off to a slow start in doubles and showed a lot of character getting up for the singles and taking control of the match. We gained good experience from this trip and are looking forward to our night match next Sunday against Georgia State."
The Cougars will host Georgia State in the team's home opener on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. (ET) at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
