CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 74-ranked College of Charleston women's tennis team will take a break from Southern Conference action to play host to No. 44-ranked Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 20 at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
First serve between the Cougars (13-4) and Sooners (7-7) is set for 1 p.m. (ET) and live scoring will be available via a link at: www.CofCSports.com.
OU will be the sixth nationally-ranked opponent CofC will have faced this spring. The Cougars are currently on a nine-match winning streak and look to protect their undefeated 9-0 home-court record.
"Oklahoma has been ranked as high as No. 25 in the nation this year," CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. "They have a great program and a great coach in David Mullins. They have practiced here the last couple of days in preparation for the match during their spring break. We are glad to have them here. We had a great match with them two years ago in which we had a match point to win the doubles, but came up a little short. In the end, they were too tough for us in singles. We are looking forward to another great college tennis match on Tuesday."
Both teams boast nationally-ranked players, as CofC senior right-hander Katie Lee (Brisbane, Australia) is currently ranked No. 113 in the latest Campbell/ITA singles rankings, while the OU duo of Marie-Pier Huet and Whitney Ritchie are ranked No. 44 in doubles.
