CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's tennis team gets set to host a pair of Southern Conference foes in Samford and Chattanooga this weekend at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars (7-3, 2-0 SoCon) will face the Bulldogs (11-2, 5-0 SoCon) on Friday, March 23 at 2 p.m. (ET) and the Mocs (10-4, 2-2 SoCon) on Sunday, March 25 at 1 p.m. (ET).
"Playing Samford is going to be very exciting because we are the only two undefeated teams in the conference," CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. "Last year, we won the regular season, but Samford beat us in the finals of the SoCon Tournament. This will be a good chance for us to get another look at them and their new coach. They've beaten five teams in the conference and they're returning four of their six players, so we're looking forward to a good barometer match for us on Friday."
A pay-per-view live video stream of the doubles point against Samford will be available on the Charleston Sports Network at: www.CofCSports.com.
"This will be our first home match in three years versus Chattanooga," Bruner said. "They're young, but a very improved team from last year. Their coach has done a good job of getting them to compete, so this will be a good chance for us to gauge where we are and get us ready for the SoCon Tournament."
CofC has won of five of its last six matches and are looking to rebound from a tough 6-1 road loss at No. 48-ranked South Carolina on March 18. The Cougars, defending SoCon co-regular-season champions, have already beaten Wofford and Elon so far this year.
