MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's tennis team remained undefeated in Southern Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Furman on Friday afternoon at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.

The Cougars (12-3, 6-0 SoCon) have now won five in a row and took control of the match early by claiming the doubles point over the visiting Paladins (8-13, 5-3 SoCon).

Senior Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) and junior Kyle Parker (Richmond, Va.) defeated Furman's Alex Christ and Joe Cook, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles followed by junior Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va.) and junior Billy Kenny (Pawley's Island, S.C.) winning their fourth-straight match, 8-4, at No. 3.

CofC would feed off of that momentum by winning five of the first six sets in singles. Freshman Alon Faiman (Ramat Hasharon, Israel) allowed only three games in a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory over Luke Synn at the No. 6 line and sophomore Crescente Lesser (Santiago, Chile) rolled past Robbie Aru, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4. Faiman and Lesser are both an undefeated 6-0 against SoCon opponents this season.

Kyle Parker clinched the match by fighting off Joel Cook in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6 (4), at No. 3. The Cougars also received big contributions from Mickael Trintignac, who dismantled No. 117-ranked Andrew Mellow, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles and senior Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium), who won a 12-point third-set super tiebreaker over Alex Christ at No. 2.

"I was really impressed and proud of our guys, because we started off the match braving the wind and cold weather conditions," CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. "They really stepped it up today. One and three doubles played great. Stephen Hardy and Billy Kenny played a full match at three that gave us some confidence going into singles which could have made the match tighter.

"We worked as a team in singles. We had a lot of long, close first sets, but it set us up to take control and momentum of the match. Guga (Trintignac) beating a ranked opponent was a great win at No. 1 as well as Crescente and Alon continuing on their outrageous win streak in league play. Tom also did an excellent job of winning his third-set tiebreaker to finish off the match for us today."

The Cougars will next host Georgia Southern in their regular-season home finale on Monday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. (ET). The doubles point against the Eagles will be available via a pay-per-view live video stream on the Charleston Sports Network at www.CofCSports.com.
