SIESTA KEY, Fla. - FAU slipped by the Cougars, 3-2, on Friday afternoon in the first day of the Fiesta at Siesta Sand Volleyball tournament.

The Cougars had defeated FAU two weeks ago in dual sand volleyball action, but the Owls won the number one and two seeds to take the dual on Friday afternoon.

College of Charleston's three group of Kerstin Koehler and Andi Zbojniewicz won an easy 2-0 match over FAU by a score of 21-11 and 21-7. The Cougar fours of Sloane White and Emily Neideffer also won their match, 2-1, with scores of 17-21, 21-8 and 15-12. Despite a 2-0 loss by the CofC fives (Catey Warren and Taeler Davis), the Cougars led 2-1 going into the final two matches.

However, FAU's two seeds took Kelly Kolich and Emily Shelton to a third game and pulled out a 15-11 win in the deciding set. The top Cougar pairing of Elyse Chubb and Lizzie Theesfeld fell 2-0 as FAU clinched the dual.

The Cougars will compete today in an open tournament in the Fiesta at Siesta, the last competition of the regular season.
