CHARLESTON, S.C. - The 2012 Southern Conference champion College of Charleston men's and women's tennis teams will host an NCAA Selection Show Watch Party on Tuesday, May 1 at the McAlister Hospitality Suite located on the third floor of TD Arena.
The event is free and open to the media and public beginning at 4:30 p.m. (ET). Light food and drinks will be served.
CofC is one of only eight schools in the country, among league's who receive an automatic NCAA bid, to have both its men's and women's programs win its conference tournament title next to Sacramento State (Big Sky), VCU (Colonial Athletic Association), Tulsa (Conference USA), Fairfield (Metro Atlantic Athletic), South Carolina State (Mid-Eastern Athletic), Fairleigh Dickinson (Northeast) and Eastern Kentucky (Ohio Valley).
The field of 64 teams for the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship will be announced via a live video stream on www.NCAA.com beginning at 5 p.m. (ET), while the selection for the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship follows at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
The CofC men (18-4) won at least a share of the SoCon regular-season title for the third year in a row and captured its first tournament title since 2003 under 2012 SoCon Men's Tennis Coach of the Year Jay Bruner, while the CofC women (25-5) claimed its fourth-straight SoCon Tournament title and turned in its first 25-win campaign in program history under CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo.
The women are currently ranked No. 60 in the nation in the latest Campbell's/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings released on April 24 which ties a program best, while the men's top doubles team comprised of senior Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) and Kyle Parker (Richmond, Va.) are No. 65 in the ITA Collegiate Doubles Rankings - the first CofC ranked duo since 2002.
