SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston's Daniel Aldrich was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

The award marked the second time that the Preseason All-American has earned the weekly honor in the past three weeks. It is also the fifth SoCon weekly award for the Cougars this season, the most for any school in the conference.

Aldrich led the Cougars to victories over Clemson, Savannah State and a game three win over UNC Asheville as he hit .421 with two home runs, two triples and two doubles, amassing a slugging percentage of 1.053 with five RBI. On Saturday, he came just a double away from hitting for the cycle, and he hit a game-tying solo homer in Monday's win over Clemson.

The native of Mount Pleasant, S.C. now leads the conference in triples with seven as he's also hit five homers in the past three weeks.

The Cougars will conclude the home portion of the regular season on Tuesday against Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m.
