CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston Sports Network caught up with CofC assistant women's basketball coach Melba Chambers to get her thoughts on her first few months on the job. Chambers played for Coach Adair at Georgetown and is now coaching alongside her.
What was your initial reaction when Coach Adair called you about being on her staff?
"I was very excited, not only for myself, but for her. I think it's been a long time coming and she is one of the best coaches around. Giving her the opportunity to show what she can do is great. To be able to be here with her, I'm excited and I can't wait to get things going."
What were your first impressions of the College of Charleston campus and city of Charleston?
"It is beautiful. The campus is something that I would not have imagined. The people are great and to be this close to the beach, what more could you ask for."
What can fans expect from a Natasha Adair-coached team?
"She is amazing. On the court she is going to demand the best and is going to work very hard. Off the court she cares about her players. I think I'm a great example of that. I played for her a long time ago and I've had a relationship with her ever since. It's not when you graduate it's over, she still has that relationship with you."
