CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men’s tennis team will open up fall tournament play this weekend at the 49er Pick’em hosted by UNC Charlotte on Sept. 14-16 in Charlotte, N.C.

The Cougars, defending Southern Conference champions, will travel eight players including four who were members of their 2012 NCAA Tournament squad in junior Brice Allanic (Colombes, France), sophomore Alon Faiman (Ramat Hasharon, Israel), senior Billy Kenny (Pawley’s Island, S.C.) and junior Crescente Lesser (Santiago, Chile). Faiman was honored on last year’s All-SoCon Freshman Team and Lesser on the All-SoCon Second Team.

“We are a young team and this tournament will be a good experience for our newcomers,” CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. “We have five new players on our roster (Matt Daly, Charlie Ghriskey, Zack Lewis, Sebastian Lopez and Josh Record), so I am excited to see the shape of the team against some good competition this weekend at UNC Charlotte.”

CofC will be among a four-team tournament field that includes host Charlotte, Gardner-Webb and Winthrop. This will be the first year of the fall event as the 49ers unveil their brand-new facility, the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
