CARY, N.C. – College of Charleston junior men's tennis player Brice Allanic (Colombes, France) advanced past the first round of tournament play at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Thursday.
Allanic made a come-from-behind 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory over Austin Ansari of Clemson, before falling to ninth-seeded David Hopkins of Wake Forest in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in the Round of 64.
The Cougars were also represented by junior Crescente Lesser (Santiago, Chile) as well as sophomores Alon Faiman (Ramat Hasharon, Israel) and Sebastian Lopez (Medllin, Colombia). The three fell in the opening round, but Lopez was able to win his first-round consolation match against Mario Martinez of ECU, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Lopez will face Alex Calcott of UNC Charlotte later today in consolation play, while Faiman will square off against Hunter Whalen of Coastal Carolina.
