CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women’s tennis team is pleased to announce an addition to its 2013 spring roster. Katherine Schofield (Franklin, Tenn.) comes in as a five-star recruit and ranked No. 42 in the nation by The Tennis Recruiting Network .
Schofield posted a 52-33 singles record throughout her high school years, while she was being homeschooled by Laurel Springs School in her hometown of Franklin, Tenn. She is coming off a terrific summer on the junior circuit.
“Katherine is a solid recruit and plays a very powerful game,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “She will be very coachable. With Coach (Billy) Silcox and Coach (Arron) Spencer’s help, Katherine will be a great asset to the team.”
Schofield will make her Cougar debut this weekend when CofC takes on Winthrop in its spring season opener on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
