CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 72-ranked College of Charleston women’s tennis team is ready to head down to Florida for their annual spring break road trip starting this weekend with three dual matches scheduled at Stetson, No. 58 South Florida and North Florida.
The Cougars (4-3) will look to turn in another successful spring break as they went 3-1 last year with wins over Jacksonville State and Southern Conference foes Samford and Chattanooga.
The College’s first match of the weekend will be played on Saturday, March 2, at noon (ET) at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. The Cougars are coming off a tough 7-0 loss at No. 38-ranked South Carolina on Feb. 23.
The Hatters (3-1) are off to a hot start, having posted wins over Florida A&M and crosstown rival Charleston Southern.
After Saturday’s match, CofC will make its way over to Tampa to take on No. 58-ranked South Florida on Monday, March 4 at 2 p.m. (ET) at USF’s Varsity Tennis Courts. The Bulls (1-3) have faced a tough non-conference schedule thus far, having lost to No. 36 Washington, No. 4 Florida, and No. 16 Florida State, before topping Georgetown, 7-0, on Feb. 22.
“We’re anxious to get down to Florida and spend some quality time together,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “Hopefully, some of our injuries and illnesses will heal up in time for us to compete at our full capacity during this trip.”
The Cougars will close out their road swing at North Florida on March 5 at 2 p.m. (ET) at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.
