CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 71-ranked College of Charleston women’s tennis team will travel to North Carolina this weekend for two Southern Conference matches. Up first for the Cougars is a match against Davidson on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. (ET) at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center in Davidson, N.C.
CofC (9-7, 1-0 SoCon) is coming off a four-match home stand where the team lost to Wichita State and undefeated Cornell before beating Albany and UMBC.
Davidson (7-4, 0-2 SoCon) has posted a 7-2 record on its home courts including a 4-3 win over No. 72 East Carolina on March 14. The Wildcats will also be looking for revenge from when the College trounced them 7-0 last spring at CofC.
“Davidson is going to be a tough match tomorrow,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “It looks like we’ll be playing indoors which will give them a little bit of an advantage. But, our players are getting better physically so we should be able to give them a good challenge.”After Saturday’s match, the Cougars will travel further into North Carolina to take on Appalachian State on Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m. (ET) at the ASU Tennis Courts in Boone, N.C.
