CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women’s tennis team will finish up its five-match Southern Conference homestand with three matches in the next six days against Furman, Samford and Chattanooga. Up first for the Cougars is SoCon-leading Furman on Wednesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. For the second time for the College this season, the doubles point will be broadcasted live on www.cofcsports.com via the Charleston Sports Network.
The Cougars (12-8, 4-1 SoCon) have had a good last two weeks, winning five of their last six matches and three of their last four in conference including a sweep of No. 70-ranked UNCG on March 29 at Patriots Point.
The Paladins (9-6, 5-0) have also been on a tear, winning their last five and staying undefeated in conference with four straight victories, including two 4-3 wins last week on the road at Chattanooga and Appalachian State.
“This will be another very competitive match for us against a Furman team that’s still undefeated in the SoCon,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “Coach (Debbie) Southern always has her team well-prepared for its matches and we always have good battles – this should be a very close and exciting match.”
After Wednesday’s match the Cougars will have two days of practice before facing off against Southern Conference foes Samford and Chattanooga on Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 at Patriots Point.
