CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 72-ranked College of Charleston women’s tennis team will hit the road this weekend for its final two Southern Conference matches against Wofford and Western Carolina. First up for CofC is Wofford on Friday, April 12 at 3 p.m. (ET) at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
CofC (15-8, 7-1 SoCon) has been on a hot streak recently, winning its last four conference matches and climbing to the No. 1 position in the Southern Conference.
Wofford has had a more difficult year as its record currently stands at 5-14, 1-7 in the SoCon. The Terriers will be out for revenge after the College swept them 7-0 last season.
“We haven’t been on the road in a while so we’re not sure what to expect,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo said. “Wofford has a new coach in Chrissy Hall who did a great job at UAB so I’m sure she’ll have her team ready. We’ve got a lot riding on these next two matches, if we can win these next two then we’ll be in good shape to be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. We’ve got a lot of work left to do but the team has done a great job preparing this week so we’ll go out and give it our best.”
After Friday’s match the Cougars will head up to North Carolina to play Western Carolina on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. (ET) at the Catamount Athletic Complex in Cullowhee, N.C.
