MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston men’s tennis team battled past a talented UNCG squad this afternoon to claim a 5-2 win at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point.

Junior Crescente Lesser (Santiago, Chile) clinched the match by thwarting UNCG’s Gaston Murray’s comeback attempt on Court 3. Lesser won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to seal the overall win for the Cougars.

“Today was a great win for us,” CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. “It was good for us to play these last two matches in a row to get ready for the SoCon tournament. The guys did a good job believing in themselves as they have all season. I’m excited for the tournament next week – I think we’ve put ourselves in a good place.”

CofC will head up to North Carolina next weekend to play in the SoCon Championships. The matches will take place from April 18-21 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
