RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston freshman Laura Fuenfstueck (pronounced FUUNF-shh-took) was named Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
She shared the weekly honor with Grace Chua of Delaware as each earned second-place finishes in their respective fall tournaments. It marked her third weekly award of the season.
Fuenfstueck finished tied for second at the CofC-hosted Palmetto Intercollegiate held on the par-72, 5,972-yard Turtle Point Golf Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C.
The rookie paced the Cougars to a tie for fifth after shooting even-par over the three days with a three-round score of 69-73-74—216. Fuenfstueck’s first-round 69 was the tournament’s daily low, while her 73 in the second round advanced her to hold on to the lead among the individuals. She finished the tournament just two strokes back of medalist Melissa Siviter of Georgia State (77-70-67—214).
