CofC Swimming & Diving Signs Local Talent
CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston head swimming coach Bora Yatagan has announced the signing of Benjamin Hillebrand for the 2014-15 class.
A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Hillebrand comes from Wando High School, competing in the backstroke and freestyle events.
Last season, he finished in the Top 10 in his age group at the South Carolina Short Course State Championship meet.
“We expect Ben to be a major asset for our team,” Yatagan said. “He is diverse in his events and will be a very competitive swimmer in the CAA. South Carolina has a lot of good local talent, and we are excited to have so many great local swimmers on our team. We see a bright future for the newest addition to Cougar swimming.”
Hillebrand has posted times of 1:49.70 in the 200 backstroke, 51.40 in the 100 backstroke, 4:36.80 in the 500 freestyle and 1:43.10 in the 200 freestyle.
