NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Junior Zach Munroe (Charlotte, N.C.) made a top-15 finish as the College of Charleston men’s golf team closed out the 2014 Mason Rudolph Men’s Championship on Sunday with a three-round score of 895 to place 10th at the Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course.
It marked Munroe’s third-consecutive tournament finish inside the Top 15 behind third-place honors at The Hootie on March 25 and a tie for 15th at The Schenkel on March 16. He turned in a career-best 67 in the opening round and carded a 216 for the weekend to finish at 3-over par and tied for 14th.
"Today was undoubtably a disappointment," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "The guys struggled today and we didn't capitalize on many opportunities. We didn't get any momentum and we hardly made any birdies. The course had some tough pin locations, but we simply didn't perform to our potential today."
Top-ranked Alabama won the team title with a 5-under 847 which was nine strokes better than second-place and No. 14 Vanderbilt (+4). Both were one-of-six Golfstat.com-ranked schools in the field.
The Cougars will next compete in their first-ever CAA Men’s Golf Championship to be held on April 25-27 at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
