WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 2 seed College of Charleston men’s tennis team pulled out an exciting come from behind victory on Saturday afternoon, downing hosts William and Mary, 4-2 at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center to advance to the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tennis Championships.

The Tribe took an early advantage by claiming the doubles point through the William and Mary pairing of John Banks and Ben Hoogland who blanked CofC’s Charlie Ghriskey and Zack Lewis, 8-0, on court three before the Tribe’s court two tandem of Addison Appleby and Ben Guthrie knocked off Rodrigo Encinas and Crescente Lesser, 8-5.

The Cougars rebounded quickly in singles as Encinas evened the match after getting a 6-2, 3-0 win at No. 2 following Guthrie’s retirement. CofC’s Lesser then edged Will Juggins, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 on court three and Brice Allanic rallied past Hoogland, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-1 on court one to give the Cougars a 3-1 lead.

William and Mary fought back as freshman Damon Niquet pulled out a 6-3, 6-7 (9-11), 6-2 triumph over Lewis at No. 4, but the Cougars quickly rebounded to clinch their seventh straight victory at No. 5 as Ghriskey downed Scott Huang, 6-4, 6-3.
