METHODS OF GIVING

There are multiple ways to support your College of Charleston Cougars as a member of the Cougar Club. Please review the opportunities available below.

Cash Donations
Donations may be made to the Cougar Club general scholarship fund by cash, credit card or through a bank draft. You may also give donations in memory of individuals or in honor of a person, an achievement or an event.

Gifts-in-Kind
Throughout the year, the College of Charleston Athletic programs benefit from special goods or services. Businesses may provide these goods and services in lieu of direct donations while still gaining the benefits of membership. Needed in-kind gifts include catering, printing, courtesy cars and other commodities and services that help us lower expenditures. If you or your company is interested in donating through the Gift-In-Kind program, please contact the Cougar Club office at (843) 953-8255.

Matching Gifts
Many local, regional and national corporations have matching charitable gift programs. If your employer participates in matching contributions, please indicate so on the form and mail your company's matching gift form to us. We will notify your employer of your contribution.  Matching gifts allow you to increase your support of the Charleston student-athlets and potentially give you access to increased benefits.

Securities
Stocks, bonds and Certificates of Deposit may be donated and may provide you with exemption from capital gains taxes that would be incurred if they were sold personally.

Sponsorships
Many companies and individuals take advantage of Cougar sponsorship opportunities, all of which offer first-rate, high profile exposure. Through signage and banners, broadcast media and printed materials, your business logo and message will gain recognition, broad distribution and new energy as an affiliate of Cougar sports. Our Marketing and Sponsorships representative can discuss with you a wide variety of sponsorships specially suited to your business needs and goals.  Please call (843) 953-0782 for more information on marketing and sponshorship opportunities.

Deferred or Planned Gifts
Relatively new and popular methods of giving are through a Charitable Remainder Trust and Life Insurance. These methods of giving provide several tax advantages and steady income-producing streams for the donor. Please contact the Cougar Club when considering a Deferred or Planned.

Endowment
Gifts to establish endowments for scholarships or programs provide lasting benefits for student-athletes and their teams. An Endowed Scholarship, named by you and your family, will be awarded annually and acknowledged every year by special College recognition, honors and events. Advice and guidance concerning these opportunities for giving are available by contacting the Cougar Club or through the College of Charleston Foundation.
