Bob Story is in his 19th season as head coach of the College of Charleston varsity equestrian team and his 27th overall at the college. Story came to the College of Charleston in 1980 to take over the equestrian club team. The team became an intercollegiate club team in 1983 when the Cougars joined the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. The program went NCAA Division I in 1991 and the team became a varsity sport. CofC has competed in the IHSA regionals 24 times since 1983 and has the regional title 20 times. Since 1983 the team has won 226 of 260 competitions.
