CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston head volleyball coach Jason Kepner has released the 2012 indoor schedule. With four tournaments and a trip to Kansas, this year's schedule will feature high-level volleyball as the Cougars look to make yet another run at a Southern Conference championship.

The Cougars will open the season with two home tournaments at TD Arena. The first tourney will feature Sacramento State, Jacksonville and N.C. State on August 24-25. The following weekend, the Cougars will welcome North Florida, Memphis and the Serbian National team to Charleston.

College of Charleston will then travel to Kansas for a homecoming trip for senior Kelly Kolich. The Cougars will face off against KU, Wyoming and Arizona State in the Jayhawk Invitational on Sept. 7-8. CofC won a dramatic 3-1 victory over Wyoming last season in the title match of the Hampton Inn Invitational.

The final tournament of the non-conference season will come on Sept. 14-15 back at TD Arena as Georgetown, Presbyterian and Michigan State come to town.

"I am very excited about the 2012 schedule," Kepner said. "We have four very challenging pre-season tournaments with a big trip to Kansas where we will play three great schools. We are also hosting three tournaments this fall and the level of competition coming to Charleston will really get us ready for another tough conference schedule. I know this team will use this tough schedule to make another run at the conference championship."

College of Charleston opens the Southern Conference portion of the season with four straight road matches, starting at Elon on Sept. 22. The Cougars will host defending SoCon Tournament champion Samford on Oct. 12, and will close the regular season with home contests against The Citadel (Nov. 6) and UNCG (Nov. 10).

This year's Southern Conference Tournament will be held at Davidson from Saturday, Nov. 17, through Monday, Nov. 19.

College of Charleston will look to defend its 2011 South Division regular season title and tournament runner-up with another strong squad. The Cougars return SoCon Freshman of the Year Sloane White as well one of the conference's best liberos in senior Emily Shelton. All-Freshman team honoree Lizzie Theesfeld returns on the outside along with senior Kelly Kolich.

The Cougars will also look to an outstanding recruiting class headlined by All-American transfer Darcy Dorton.

College of Charleston finished the 2011 season with a league-best 14-2 conference record, 25-10 overall, as the Cougars won either a regular season or tournament title for the 11th consecutive season. CofC also holds an active 20-match home winning streak against conference opponents dating back to 2009.
