The tournament organizers split each school's five pairings among seven pools to create a seeding for Sunday's bracket play.
Playing in pool six, CofC's top pair of Elyse Chubb and Lizzie Theesfeld posted a 7-1 record with wins over UNF's fives (21-13, 21-16), Hawaii's threes (23-21, 21-19) and FAU's fours (21-12, 21-11).and a split with Jacksonville's twos (21-12, 19-21).
The Cougars' second pair of Kelly Kolich and Emily Shelton also did well in the seventh pool with a 7-1 overall record. That pairing swept Hawaii's fours (21-17, 21-14), FAU's fives (21-12, 21-14) and Jacksonville's threes (21-15, 21-14) while splitting with UAB's top pair (21-18, 13-21).
The Cougars' third pairing of Kerstin Koehler and Andi Zbojniewicz went 3-3 in the third pool, sweeping Jacksonville's fours (21-10, 21-10) and splitting with Hawaii's fives (21-18, 16-21).
The four and five pairings of Sloane White and Emily Neideffer and Taeler Davis and Catey Warren combined for a 2-10 mark.
For the second week in a row, the Cougars dealt with an uncommon opponent before this first outdoor season: rain. Several matches were delayed and pool play will resume on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. The bracket play will begin around 9:30 a.m.
