Karen Donovan Joins CofC Student-Athlete Academic Support Staff

Karen Donovan has been named Learning Specialist for Student-Athletes at the College of Charleston.  Donovan will serve as academic counselor for men's soccer, women's golf, men's tennis, equestrian and sailing. 

"I am thrilled at the opportunity to work at the College of Charleston," said Donovan.  "The College has a great tradition in athletics as well as academics and I am excited to be a part of it."

Donovan joins the Cougars after working as an Athletic Academic Services Intern at the University of Massachusetts where she assisted the Director of Academic Services, the Learning Specialist and the Life Skills Coordinator.  She also served as an academic counselor for football student-athletes in the MASS program and coordinated all class attendance monitoring responsibilities.

Donovan, a native of Round Rock, Texas, earned a degree in Athletic Training Sports Medicine from Baylor University in 2006 and a master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Georgia in 2008.

"We were very fortunate to get someone with Karen's talent and dedication," said Keith Merritt, Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services. "We are very excited to add her to our staff."
