CHARLESTON, S.C.– The College of Charleston men’s tennis team claimed four singles flights and two of three doubles flights versus Southern Conference foe Appalachian State at the second day of the CofC Invitational on Saturday at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant.
Senior Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) and sophomores Crescente Lesser (Santiago, Chile) and Brice Allanic (Colombes, France) all claimed their flights with three third-setters in singles play. Trintignac topped Alex Markov, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, while Lesser defeated Alain Humbet, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Allanic proved victorious after Andrew McKinnon was forced to retire in the third set, giving Allanic a winning score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-5.
Senior Chris Toussaint (Charlotte, N.C.) claimed the singles seventh flight after defeating Robert Jenkins, 7-6(4), 6-1.
In doubles action, Trintignac and Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium) dispatched Phil Klock and Alain Humblet, 8-6, while Lesser and junior Billy Kenny (Pawley’s Island, S.C.) defeated McKinnon and Sansing, 9-7.
"The battles on each court today were good for out team after a tough day of matches yesterday,” CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. “I am pleased with how they responded and focused today. We were able to find a lot of heart in the three-third set victories we had today.
The Cougars will conclude play against Gardner Webb Sunday at noon.
