2011-12: Placed seventh in the 1650 freestyle (16:29.75) at CCSAs ... member of the 800 free relay team that finished second at CCSAs (6:46.78). 

High School: Shaffer attended Winfield High School in West Virginia, captaining his team last season ... he is the school record-holder in the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle ... he was the co-treasurer of the student council and treasurer of the National Honor Society.
