Swimming and Diving Teams Defeated by South Carolina, Kentucky

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The College of Charleston swimming and diving teams suffered defeats at the hands of South Carolina and Kentucky in the Carolina Natatorium at the Blatt P.E. Center on Friday afternoon.

The No. 23 USC men's team took down CofC by a 251-47 mark and the Kentucky men beat CofC, 243-52. The CofC women fell to USC, 236-57, and to Kentucky, 224-63.

The women capitalized on the 100-yard breast stroke and swept the event, led by April Coyne (1:09.94) followed by Caitlin Shepherd (1:11.69) and Jackie Tully (1:14.66).

The Cougars will return home for their first home meet of the season when they host Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association foe Gardner Webb on Sunday, Jan. 9 at the Stern Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
