CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston swimming and diving teams return to action this weekend with a non-conference home meet against UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Stern Center at 2 p.m.
The Cougars come into the meet hoping to bounce back from losses to Gardner Webb last Sunday, Jan. 9. The men fell by a 173-113 mark while the women succumbed to a 163-123 defeat in the meet.
Matt Sherrier continued his successful season in the meet, championing the 150-meter freestyle (1:23.48) by more than a full second as well as the 400-meter freestyle (4:11.95). Sherrier also participated in the second-place 400-meter medley relay and the first-place 400-meter freestyle relay. Sarah Boyle stood out on the women's side with victories in the 50-meter backstroke (31.51) and the 150-meter backstroke (1:45.94).
Sherrier boasts the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association's best times in the 500-yard freestyle and 1000-yard freestyle this season.
Following the UNCW meet, the Cougars swim a pair of home meets on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 against Campbell (women only) and Limestone (men and women) before preparing for the CCSA Championships on Feb. 17-19 in Athens, Ga.
