NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - After a delayed start, the College of Charleston-Charleston Southern baseball game was suspended in the fifth inning due to lightning and rain.

Due to scheduling conflicts, the game will not be resumed and will not count toward the standings. This game had already been postponed from an original March 21st scheduled date.

The Cougars took a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning with storm clouds threatening. After CofC starter Ryan West recorded the first out, lightning was spotted and the teams had to vacate the field.

College of Charleston started fast with three runs in the first inning with RBI from Brandon Murray, Daniel Aldrich and Rob Harding.

Harding tallied two more RBI in the third inning with a single up the middle to score Bradley Goodson and Murray. Jimmy Holton hit a sacrifice fly to score Cody Martin in the fourth inning.

The Bucs scored their only runs in the fourth inning with a two-run homer from Chase Shelton.

College of Charleston will host UNC Asheville this weekend in a three-game series. The start times were moved to accommodate graduation, meaning that the games will start on 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
