BOONE, N.C. - Freshman Dena O'Brien placed 13th individual (18:08 for 5k) and the College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams each placed 12th Friday at the Blue Ridge Open.
The meet, hosted by Appalachian State served as a preview for the Southern Conference Championships, which will be held in Boone on Oct. 30.
The men's team was led by junior Christian Bailey, who placed 44th (26:01 for 8k).
Following O'Brien was Kristen Wolfe (19:03, 60th), McKenna Nokes (19:34, 100th) and Callen Powers (19:39, 108th)
On the men's side after Bailey came Alexander Hill (26:15, 54th), Andrew Nelson (26:30, 68th) and David Lamberson (27:10, 101st).
The Cougars resume action in two weeks on Oct. 30, back in Boone, N.C. for the SoCon Championships, hosted by Appalachian State.
