CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams host the College of Charleston Invitational on Saturday at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island.
The men's 8K race is set to begin at 9:00 AM with the women's 5K race to follow at 9:45 AM. The meet will feature eight women's teams and six men's teams including conference foes the Citadel, Elon and Georgia Southern.
This race will serve as a preview for the Southern Conference Championship, which will be hosted by the Cougars Oct. 29 on the same course.
Head Coach Amy Seago said she is excited to see more of the team run this weekend.
"It's great to be at our home course," she said. "It's our first opportunity to run on our home course before the conference championship."
The team had its first meet of the season last weekend at the Eye Opener in Spartanburg, S.C., where the women's finished sixth and the men ninth.
Seago said the biggest thing she took from the meet was having the newcomers run well to help build depth for the future of the program.
