KAUAI, HAWAII - Sophomore John Duke Hudson shot a 2-under 70 to lead the College of Charleston men's golf team to a 1-over 289 and four strokes back of leader Hawaii after the first round of the Kauai Collegiate Invitational Sunday.

Also with a round under par was Cabe Prieskorn, who carded a 1-under 71. Neil Gowan and Seth Stuart both fired a first round 73s, while Henry Smart and Alex Ellis shot 75.

The tournament will consist of three rounds in three days on the par-72 6,954 Puakea Golf Course in Kauai.

The 2011 tournament field includes: College of Charleston, host Hawaii, North Dakota State, San Diego, Seattle and Utah Valley State.

"We got off to a solid start today," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We need to continue to take advantage of our opportunities and we will be in a good place going forward."

Due to the time difference in Hawaii full results will not be available until tomorrow morning.
