GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro scored seven runs in the fifth inning to erase a 7-2 CofC lead as the Spartans would go on to take a 10-8 win on Friday night at UNCG Ballpark.

UNCG (25-26, 10-19) used 14 hits to score the 10 runs led by three-RBI performances from Trevor Edwards and Lloyd Enzor. Bobby Martin scored three of the UNCG runs as all but one starter notched a hit.

The Cougars (36-18, 20-9) were led offensively by Cody Martin and Brandon Glazer who each tallied multiple RBIs. College of Charleston had scored every run in the seven-run third inning until Glazer hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth frame.

UNCG's Tyler Holstegge (6-6) picked up the win for the Spartans as he went 2.1 innings and allowed just one run, ending the CofC damage in the third. Corey Taylor came on to finish the game, pitching the last four innings and allowing just one run while striking out four to pick up his first save of the season.

CofC starter Ryan West left the game in the fourth inning after allowing six hits and three runs. However, Jake Zokan and Drew Freie gave up six earned runs in the fifth inning that allowed the Spartans to retake the lead. Freie (0-1) was tagged with the loss, his first of the season.

UNCG took a 2-0 lead after the first two innings as Edwards hit a sacrifice fly to score Martin in the first. In the second inning, TJ Spina double and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on an infield ground ball as he was ruled safe at the plate.

College of Charleston's offense came alive in the third inning, scoring seven runs despite only getting two hits. After Jimmy Holton reached on a bunt single to put two runners on, Bradley Goodson loaded the bases with a hard hit grounder that ate up the UNCG shortstop for an error. Murray and Aldrich then walked in two runs with the bases loaded. After Rob Harding popped up for the second out, Glazer and Gunnar Heidt each drew bases loaded walks to make the score 4-2. Martin then cleared the bases with a double to left center to put the margin at 7-2 Cougars.

The Spartans chipped away at the lead with consecutive two-out singles in the fourth when Enzor scored Martin from third to cut the margin to 7-3.

UNCG turned the tables on CofC in the bottom of the fifth inning, plating seven runs on six hits to take a 10-7 advantage. Edwards made the big hit of the inning, a two-RBI double down the right field line with one out to score Enzor and Christian Wolfe.

College of Charleston had a chance to tie it in the top of the eighth inning when Goodson and Murray hit two-out singles and Aldrich lifted a potential game-tying home run to the wall in right field.

Glazer hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning that cut the score to 10-8 and extended his home run streak to four games, the longest for any Cougar this season. However, Heidt and pinch-hitter Tyler Jackson were retired to end the game.

Despite a win by Appalachian State in the second game of the evening, the Cougars can still claim a share of the Southern Conference title with a win tomorrow and an ASU loss. However, the Cougars can drop to the third seed in the tournament with a loss as Elon is currently one game behind with the tiebreaker.

Tomorrow's regular season finale will start at 1 p.m. against the Spartans.
